Wink Thinking of buying '89 F250....

Thinking of buying a 1989 F250 4x4 460. Has some problems - won't stay on- can only turn on with starter fluid. Needs tires, needs A/C , paint and has very little rust. The owner is asking $1000 is this fair deal? I want to offer him less but don't want to insult him.
Any Ideas on it?
Thanks.

I paid about $1500 for my 89 F250. It is a 302 5 speed 4x4. It needed both motor and tranny rebuilds but it was totally rust free, just a couple of dents. Sounds fair to me if you like fixing stuff yourself.

I paid $1200 for my 89 F250 XLT 2WD. Has little rust (rear fenders - easy bondo fix) but everything else was in a decent shape. Put another $300 in it (mostly parts, as I do all work myself). It's now in a perfect driving shape. So it all depends. The asking price looks decent but look and listen carefully, as you might end up spending more than you are planning.
