6 into 2 Headers

I have a set of 6 into headers that will fit a 300 straight six, I would love to install a set of dual exhaust and use these however I am worried about the carb icing up in the cooler weather and winter.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

Is there a way around not having the heat from the stock manifold to heat the carb and still avoid icing?

Hows about this. after you install the headers, take the old heat riser and notch it to fit around them. would that work? i know that i drove my '83 302 last winter without the riser and it iced up on me a couple of times. Made it interesting though because the throttle stuck at wide open goin accross a bridge. was doin 90 in a 50 by the time i got off the other side!! just an idea i had. let me know what you think.

Thanks for the response.

I may try that.

I figured the carb would ice up if I removed the stock exhaust manifold, at least someone has confimed that question.

Thanks

Hmmm....funny this post should show up....I guess then it is a bad thing that my heat riser fell off this week....any thoughts on fixing it? I was thinking tack welds as a quick fix....

Cheers!

You know what my thoughts would be on fixin it Quadiquizm, are you close to a junkyard? this item, especially if self removed, should be very cheap. you can keep the original mounting and there won't be any welds to grind off if necessary. Thats just what i would do, but maybe your local junkyard rip you off, i don't know. Like i say, just a thought.
