I need to get a steel valance (gravel shield) very soon for my 53. Heavy56 is picking up the only one I have at the moment (wrong year for mine. I hate to scatter my front clip for any length of time.
Anyway, I need to know which F100 vendors sell used body parts. I know Bob's F100s does and I am about desperate enough to pay the West Coast shipping. Tried the FTE classifieds but it didn't work out. Any other vendors with a good stock?
Thanks

Yes it is #8188 in the above diagram.
Gibbon Fiberglass Reproductions in Gibbon Nebraska handles used steel body parts. Finding a straight one of those might be a little tough. The fiberglass ones are easy to install, fairly inexpensive, and can't be told from stock once the're painted.

8188 indeed.
Bob
I passed up 2 perfectly straight valances at Pigeon Forge. There were just too many things "on sale" and the cash ran out. Plus I thought it wise to buy the truck ship stuff while I could haul it home. I will check Gibbons tomorrow for a steel valance. Glass is not an option at all. I'll have to pay the piper for that decision. I sent my glass front fenders on the first Greyhound out of Iowa as soon as I found out they were now available in steel.

Called F100 Connection and Gibbon's today. Strikes one and two. Anyone have Bob's F100 phone number? He's a little elusive on the internet.
BTW, Mark from F100 connection said someone would be producing them in steel by the end of the year. No help for me but it's good to know. He said someone was repopping real nice ones out his way until recently but he quit. I didn't know that either. I guess that opens up the option of buying one that's not so perfect to hold me over.

Mr. Fenders
Dennis Carpenter had a display at the Charlotte Auto fair this weekend and was showing the entire front clip as repop. There is a dealer called Carolina F100's that also has some used parts. I'll dig up the number tonight and post it for you.
Will be going to carlisle next month and will look fo rvendors there also

"Hey fenders, by the time you pay the shipping from Riverside CA you might just as well get a new piece."
Heck ya, it's just money, I can make some more tomorrow.
Until today I didn't think a new valance was even an option. I'll have to check it out just a little more before I order one. I have a month of good painting weather left so I guess I'll be patient for a few more days. About three people have told me new ones exist, but I have yet to find someone who actually has one to sell me. If true, I believe that only leaves the cab, doors and hood as unavailable in steel. I would be amazed if cabs and doors will EVER be available.

Dewayne,
these guys may have what you want used. This is not the link I was looking for but am trying to find my program for the other vendor with the used parts.

Thanks, I'll make a few calls tomorrow. I should be able to determine if new is an option in steel with a couple more calls. I am skeptical since there are three different valances for 53-56 alone. But you never know. Perhaps a web search would yield the answer. Forgot to try the obvious.

Here we go,
Well the obvious choice of calling Midfifty to see if they have some used ones haven't hit you in the head yet. Don't forget they sell used parts also. Selection might be small but they might have what you need. I was thinking of getting the fiberglass one without the frame pockets due to showing no bumper in the front but i have changed my since looking at October's Classic Truck magazine with the 1956 Yellow Ford F100....wow...that truck looks too sweet with the chrome bumpers so that sold me guys....guess i have to spend that extra $400 bucks for brackets, bolts and bumpers....good luck searching for a used one....

New steel valances for 53 do not exist at this time. I'm pretty convinced of this but would love to be wrong. I am going to call off the goose chase real soon. Those of you with 55s and 56s will probably have the new steel option soon. Carpenter is going to make them. I am pretty sure other production runs have already occurred in the recent past from talking to vendors.
Steel used valances in good condition for 53 aren't terribly common either but I know they are out there. I think I'm gonna be sick if I get forced into a glass valance. Because I know I'll get bad glass yet again and then run across a steel one the next week.
