I’m beginning to rebuild a Motocraft 2150 carb.
The kit explains how to remove the “tamper proof” screws
for the choke cover and disassemble the choke. As a matter of fact
on the diagram it shows this to be one of the first operations in the
order to do… steps 3,4, and 5. Yet the rebuild kit does not have any
replacement parts for the choke or says what to do…(I expect I should
just clean the innards (spring)with carb cleaner. All that is inside is the choke spring
assembly…. IS THIS SOMETHING I REALLY NEED TO DO?????
Messing with tamper proof screws and taking out a spring assem. when there
is nothing else inside seems like it might be a waste of time and chance to mess
up the spring….. or am I missing something??
Thanks..

If your carb has the "tamper-proof" screws on the choke thermostat, I'd suggest replacing them with regular screws so you can adjust the choke thermostat. When rebuilding the carb, you should remove the thermostat cap so you can disassemble and clean all the choke components, including the housing the thermostat mounts on.
The air metering rod assembly is used to provide a variable high-speed air bleed. Not all 2150 carbs have that system. For more information about that, check out this page:
