Need Some Help
hi everyone! i am new to the whole "bronco world", and i have a question....i am gettin an '89 ford bronco XLT 4x4 351 V8 auto. for a pretty good deal....there is only one problem with it...they said that the rear trans. seal needs to be replaced...can someone explain to me what exactly that is?
a friend of mine said that i might have to get a new transfer case, because it is a 4WD???
any information will help!
Thanks!

The rear trans seal is on the tailshaft housing of the transmission. The Transfer case just hooks to the tranny. To change the seal you will need to remove the transfer case if I remember correctly and use a seal puller to get the old seal out. It's just a round 1 piece seal with a spring in it that keeps tension of the shaft surface.Use a seal driver or a large socket to tap the new seal in place carefully.Just make sure it goes in straight and is fully seated. Not that big a deal.Best of luck.
