FWIW:
I called the local ford dealership today, and they told me they have tables to calibrate the needed driven gear size for you based on your tire size and diff ratio. $8.95 for the driven gear. . . dirt cheap if it saves a fella a speeding ticket!

After you replace the gear, if you have or can borrow one of those hand held GPS units, you can use it as you drive, to check to insure you change is accurate.
Those GPS units are accurate to within 1/2 a mile per hour, and read out in real time.
