Question Replacement Seat Foam Pads

I've searched everything I can think of and haven't had any luck. I'm looking for thoughts or sources on replacing the foam in my seat. I think it's beyond patching. Thanks in advance for your time and experience.

Any upholstery shop can help you out with Heavy Density Foam.

Check the yellow pages for Seat repair shops.

If you absolutely have to have your original seat, check around upholstery shops. A good shop will check out the frame and any springs that need to be welded or repaired. I know a great shop in California that said it would cost from $350 - $800 depending on the amount of repair needed. Keeping the original seat is not important to me. Besides, for that much $, I decided to hunt around for a 90's bench seat with headrests or perhaps even a fold down center arm rest. Boneyards are asking $275-$375 for a 90's cloth bench. You'll need to re-use your old tracks and bolt it to the 90's seat.

Are we not allowed to even mention other shops with products if they don't sponsor FTE or what? I see my post and another with that information have been quietly deleted from the site.

Fair enough, I just wondered... I figure there is a reason for it, I run enough forums of my own to know how that goes.

It's still a kick **** forum!

To anyone who has recovered a seat, how hard was it? It seems that if someone took their time it wouldn't be to difficult. I'd think the problem would be if there was broken springs in the seat or a busted weld maybe.

I've heard the free hog ring pliers included in these sets are junk, and to buy a new pair of pliers if doing it on your own. And install the seat cover on warm day. Any other hints?

I recently recovered my '71 f250 with factory original material I had made by a shop in Vancouver, WA. The kit came with hog ring pliers and instructions. I am very happy with it and especially the factory original material. It was my first re-upholstery job and I needed to repair some foam and other things as the original was pretty torn up. I have pics, but I think they are on my work computer. It's not a hard job, just needs a little patience and attention to detail-like making sure your seams line up with the edges of the seat.

I understand that. I just don't know why wives have such a hard understanding that's this is important stuff we're doing here. Is your 360 auto or manual trans? The reason I ask is I've had a really hard time finding a floor shift boot that's in good shape and it doesn't appear that anyone is making repros.
