mirror changin

I really do not know if it will be a direct bolt on, but if you do change them out for the newer ones, I highly suggest you purchase them from the dealer rather than some aftermarket auto part store.com place off the internet. Recently replaced the mirrors on my '95 F150, since the originals were faded and the black trim was peeling off. Ordered the replacements from some store off the web. When I received them, the chrome portion looked pretty cheap, especially around the edges. Then, when I installed them on the truck, the mirrors would vibrate when the truck is in motion. Kind of annoying. Then again, you get what you pay for.
Also, the bulky mirrors you mentioned probably has holes drilled around the middle of the door as well as the top. The newer mirrors only bolts on to the top two holes. They may sell caps to cover up the two bottom holes.
