how many miles you all have?

At 232K, the water pump went bad while I was returning from the opening day of pheasant season. By the time I realized what had happened the enigne was seriously over heated. It was only after I had changed the water pump that I found out that the engine had either a blown head gasket or warped heads. Until this happened, I was still getting the same gas mileage as the day I bought the 94 limited. With everything else functionig great, I,m going to put in a new engine. What i'd really like to do is upgrade to the 5.0 but I don't know if it will be worth the hasel.

93 XLT 289,000 and still runs great. Replaced front hubs and rotors at 176,000. On fourth set of tires. Replaced fan blade due to cracking at base of blades. Replaced alternator at 220,000 due to brushes worn through slip rings. Other than that just the usual brake pads x4, fan belt x2, battery x1, thermostat x1, and being a mechanic I know this is sad but haven't changed any hoses or plug wires on it yet. Original untouched motor and tranny. Just changed the oil and filter every 4000 and everything still works including the 4x4 servo. Forgot to mention I,m the original owner and it has always used 1/2 quart of oil between changes. Also forgot to mention It was hit by a train December 01 and drug 177 ft with my wife and kids in it. It ripped the left fender, hood and bumper off. Insurance company didn't total it even though it had 167,000 on it at that time. Needless to say we have a lot to be thankful for.

Repairs:
Battery - 98K
Ball joints at about 110K
Alternator - 125K
Fuel pump and filter - 168K
Routine stuff:
Oil changes every 5K (most of the time - I once went over 15K between changes)
New serpentine belt at 75K and 150K.
New front brake pads at 75K and 135K (back brakes are still original)
New plugs at 100K
Replaced center console cover (cracked) and drivers side seatbelt (frayed) at 150K
Had the tranny fluid changed at 168K while it was in the shop for the fuel pump
New plugs and wires at 200K
On the third set of tires.
And the kids broke the rear cupholder a couple of years ago, but I haven't bothered to replace it. :-)
Everything else is the same as day one. I haven't even replaced the radiator hoses! I guess one of these days I should flush and replace the coolant, but it's original as of right now....
With the exception of a very slight surging under load (gonna clean the MAF tomorrow) it looks and runs almost like new - I've got the pics my wife took last weekend when it went over 200K miles to prove it.
I'm 42, and I've owned 14 cars in the past 25 years. The Explorer is by far the best vehicle I've ever owned. My 95 Caddy STS has 169K on it, but it's needed a lot more repairs than the Explorer!
