changing thermostat and broke housing

Hi..last night i was changing the thermostat on my 95' F150 6cyc. and ending up breaking the housing (manual calls it the water outlet connection). The replacment thermostat did not have the little clips that lock it into place when turned sidways. When I put it on it must not have been seated correctly. I'm hoping Pep Boys sells this part. If they do sell it..any tricks/tips on getting the thermostat to stay in the correct postion while installing? If I end up having to get the housing from the dealer next week I'll get the oem thermostat. Thanks.

I usually put some grease on the housing so the gasket sticks to it, holding the thermostat in, and carefully put it in place.

permatex form-a-gasket (non-hardening) works great as a glue under fittings that squirm. You use it to hold all kinds of stuff in place while you put the bolts in.

If you use a RTV type of sealer, make sure it's "sensor safe".
