A quick review on the AFE Pro Dry S, stock replacement, drop-in filter for the '17 6.7 Powerstroke. Just got delivered tonight and I installed it. I carefully pulled the black foam off of the factory filter (its glued on) and also installed it in its secondary filter location to minimize dust into the air box.
I've ran the Pro Dry S (non oiled) filters on my last few trucks with great results. I took a quick run around the block and the engine feels a tad peppier from the increased airflow (it's just a filter, don't expect 10 more lbs. of boost) 😉 I've logged a lot of Powerstroke miles though and keep my stock filter to switch back to when I'm cleaning the AFE and the difference is noticeable. Also in my experience I usually pick up a .5 to 1 mpg avg. increase (I'll take what I can get) unless I'm hot rodding. I'll post back once I log some more miles. I ordered direct through AFE and although it shows out of stock online, they said it's because they are built to order and are in fact available.
They have 3 different style filters available. If you're truck stays mostly on-road then you don't technically need to reinstall the foam secondary but I am in dirty/dusty environments everyday and took the extra precaution. They also offer a more performance oriented Pro 5 R oiled filter designed for maximum airflow that the highway haulers would probably benefit from. Then for the extreme dust and offroad they have another filter with even higher filtration. Haha I sound like a rep! No affiliation. Lol.

I also have a Pro Dry S, but didn't put the foam block back in that was glued to the stock filter. Now i'm thinking maybe I should. Anyone have an opinion on that?
