Dana 60 and Dana 70HD axle swap
Ok guys ive asked different questions and gotten answers ahere and there but i need them all condensed. I want to swap my 65 F350 Dana 70HD dually axle, into my 65 F100 with a current Dana 60 under her. My questions are:
1. Fitment issues- the frames should be the same width but the 70 center section is longer would moving the acle back an inch on the f100 leafsprings be ok? As well as will the F100 leafs support the swap? I dont plan on hauling just want a badass truck.
2. Will pinion yoke from Dana 70 bolt up to F100 driveshaft/u-joint? Is it possible to swap the yokes from the axles?
3. I am looking into swapping ring and pinion from 4.56 gears to a 3.54 set and doing a master rebuild. Im currently working on brakes right now. How hard is the rebuild and what are some things to look out for?
4. If anybody has any advice outside of the questions ask please share it. This will be my first swap to do.

Not sure on the other fitment issues, but I believe the the D60 has a carrier split of 4.56 and up and 4.10 and down. You'd need a 4.10 and down carrier in order to use 3.54 gears.
Update:
I noticed you're wanting to use a D70, not D60. I'm not certain if the same split exists for the D70.

From everything ive read it is the same and from the picture i have its 4.56 or higher its hard to make out and i was in a rush. What what i gather was the bigger carrier was narrower narrower and some companies make a thicker ring gear to compensate. I need further verication id like to go faster than 45mph if im lucky. Or to swap carriers which one would work best?

It either has an optional Dana 44 or a Dana 60.2, both use 5 lug wheels on a 5.50" bolt circle.
The Dana 70 from a 1965 F350 has 6 lug wheels on a 7.25" bolt circle and FoMoCo did not offer a pickup with DRW until 1980.
1965 F350 Dana 70 ratios: 4.88-1; 5.13-1; 5.87-1.
The companion flange of the 70 is not the same as a Dana 60 or a 60.2 nor a Dana 44.

Your 1965 F100 does not have a Dana 60 unless it was swapped in. Dana 60's were only installed in F250's that use 8 lug wheels on a 6.50" bolt circle.
