Glad you're keeping it.

New trucks are awesome, but in a few years it will just be an old truck, not a cool old truck. Older vintage gets, the cooler it gets. Be 60 years till something 2017 is Vintage cool and by then something from the 50s will be twice as cool. I had this debate when thinking of trading my '67 Mustang for a new one. New one would have been a 2011... not as cool as a '67, even if cutting edge in '11.

While I can't say your particular car "does it" for me, I certainly think you are far better off keeping it over downgrading to something new. The new F-150's have all the cool little bells and whistles and whatnot, but lets face it there isn't much appeal besides having something new that is the latest and greatest, and that only lasts for a very short time period. Not to mention the price tag on new pickups...

Something old, that you have history with, and know everything about is a lot better than having something that needs taken to the dealer for every little thing that will go wrong with it. I would bet had you chose to buy new you would have been frustrated in a very short time period, and wished you had not sold your beautiful classic car.

I don't blame you one bit! That's a beautiful car.
The new truck will be just another truck in about 1 year.

I'd say go for both! Keep your sharp '53 cruiser & get a great new F150. Hey, this is easy and fun spending someone else's money.

I think that is a wise choice H.B.. That Merc. is one cool car, and selling it would probably be a decision that you would always regret .

There will always be another new F150 to buy, but that car is special. That's a good decision in my books.

You keep describing it in glowing terms like that somebody here is going to get the idea you still want to sell it, and make an offer...and put you right back in that dilemma!

You can haul almost as much with the top down in the Merc as you could in an F150, Bob.

I'm more of a truck guy, but if I had that car, I would keep it for ever, I'd be buried in it. All new stuff is junk and is not built to last. I'm glad you're keeping it. Yea ,I said it , ALL new stuff is junk, plastic throw away junk, snap together garbage.
