Are Steering Stabilizers Worth It?

Im looking to start upgrading suspension parts on my 2012 standard cab 6.2L f250. My goal is to smoothen out the ride and get rid of some of the jarring/shaking when I hit bumps. Im still debating on a slight lift (probably 3" if so) which would take care of the shocks and springs. But before i do that, if i do, id like to know if stabilizers are worth the money? And if they are, which brands/models do you recommend. Thank you in advance for any help!

steering stabilizers help with the vehicles I have owned...50K miles, 90k miles, 85k miles, 70k miles, etc.

I think mainly due to some play that the stabilizers help smooth out so theres less wander battling.

not sure how helpful they will be on a newer truck.

anti sway bars would be a different story...I think they will help any truck.

road bounce is greatly influenced by tire size, PSI, number of plys, etc.

I think the best riding superduty I owned was a 2008 lonb bed cc which had michelen 17's on them. road like a caddy.

the worst ride super duty I had was a 2005 short bed cc with 18's and good year tires....bounced and bouced no matter what shocks it had, sway bars, stabilizers, etc.

Thanks! I honestly think my wheels and tires are part of the issue. I have 20x10 wheels with 305 nitto terras, not sure what ply. Although when i put that setup on it did soften the ride compared to the stock wheels and 275s. Im thinking the lift may help being that it will allow me to put on a larger tire with more sidewall. Thoughts?

right now I have an unlifted 2010 f-450. 100psi is needed in my 225 70 19.5 12 ply tires for a smooth ride. My rims are 10 bolt pattern.

i don't think bigger tires is the answer . Bigger means you will need higher ply tires and higher psi .

Lifts will also change the geometry of the suspension and result in needing dual plus shocks to keep the ride under control.

Air down your tires for a smoother ride. That may solve your issues, and it's simple and cheap.

I think they are mandatory on a superduty! There is a you tube video that shows how much the wheels shake over bumps. I think an upgraded stock one is OK for stock foo foo tires but most duties run 35s so the dual units work best there.

A lot. The main benefit is how they are configured. Most duals attach directly to each tie rod end and then utilize nitrogen charging to resist any bump steer from either direction (an oposed configuration). That same approach does not work with a single stabilizer since it can not apply pressure in two directions. When a charged single stabilizer is used it tends to cause the truck to steer left since they push left.

I know updating my crappy stock steering stabilizer to a much better unit made a world of difference on my Super Duty!
