Condensers were used for RFI or noise suppression, that's what you are looking at. They can be found connected to ignition coils, alternators, voltage regulators etc. One failure mode is excessive electrical leakage or, a direct short so depending how they are connected they could cause trouble when they go bad. If you aren't having radio interference I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Is this condenser on the side of the coil? If so, that's the "radio noise capacitor". It's at the bottom right corner of page 26 here:

Start & Ignition - ???Gary's Garagemahal

Its only purpose was to limit ignition noise in the radio. If you're not hearing anything now, it's perfectly fine to leave it disconnected. I found the wire broken at that capacitor on my '84 351W. I left it disconnected with no ill effects. That was several years ago.

I bet you never listen to AM, or the station you listen to is very strong. Distant AM stations is where you will notice a buzzing noise in the radio if you are going to have any.
