What torque convertor

I have a 1995 F150 5.0 L engine. 4R70W tranny. Does any one know what torque convertor I should order. The parts store here said there are two different ones and I'd have to take it out first to make sure I order the right one. I don't want to tear it down first because it's the only vehicle I have and don't want to wait 7 days without wheels.

There are two converters available because your truck could have a 4R70W or an E4OD transmission. You already stated you have a 4R70W so go with that. What parts store are you referring to?

The next (first) question is: Why do you think you need a new torque converter?

Whining noise is probably a pump issue.

I didn't think about the pump. If it is the pump wouldn't there be some particles of metal in the pan. When I get the tranny out I planned on changing the filter and seals. This tranny is only 6 years old with 44500 miles on it. Bought new from Ford. If I see metal in the pan I will pull the pump and ck it out. thanks. I had a post earlier here and got all kinds of reply's Like wheel bearings etc. When driving down highway giving throttle I hear this whining , let off the throttle noise goes away. So I thought probably torque converter because when giving throttle that supply's torque to tranny and vise versa. What's you're Idea Now. Appreciate your help. thanks

There are a lot of parts inside a transmission. Based on your description the noise could be caused by many things. I am no transmission expert, just pointing out replacing parts can be dangerous to your wallet thickness.

Definitely take a close look at the fluid and bottom of the pan for more clues.

This is an area where I take my vehicles to a transmission specialist. In the long run it usually pays off.
