Badge in the fender it usually the giveaway on the E's. Yep, smaller spider too, if you know what the bigger one looks like, 2" plenums vs 3" on 99.5 and up. The turbo housings are smaller but I believe fitment is universal, pedestal is a little shorter on it and up pipes are different. The HPOP is 15 degree(?) vs 17 degree(?) swashplate (whatever that is), you can't tell this from the outside. Injectors are AB, later are AD, AD are bigger inside but fitment is universal and can be swapped with no further changes. IDM in the fender is less volts, I think its 110V vs 112V. They, too, can be swapped in no other changes necessary. There are some differences in the front suspension...tooth count on the Pittman arm and steering box are important if/when it comes their time. I believe that the sway bar mounting is different and the sway bar end links and mounting brackets to the frame. Brake rotors are different, maybe rims (not sure) and maybe axle length (not sure on this either). Inside you'll have no 'cruise control' light in the dash. And there are probably some other things that I forgot. There is/was some sort of difference in the trannies early on but I'm out of my league on them so I can't say exactly, something about a diode.
Many other parts on these trucks are interchangeable across many years and when you need stuff you'll have to find out what years will work. They are about as interchangeable as the VW Beetles are/were.

Well I got home last night after 5 hours in the truck. I gotta say I am stoked stoked STOKED. The engine bay needs a good cleaning, which will happen this weekend. I wiped down the interior at the hotel yesterday morning before hitting the road. I really can't find any dirt. Usually you find it in the AC vents and in every crack on a 17 year old truck, but not this one. Usually, SOP for me is to dismantle the entire interior and deep clean, but this truck just doesn't need it and I am glad for it. It'll get vacuumed out today and I'll wipe down the leather with some good leather conditioner. It's going to be my ranch/towing/DD so I am not going to worry too much about keeping it pristine other than mechanically and what I normally do with any of my trucks.
Anyways, I'll get some interior pics up in a bit. Thanks for following. So glad I made the move over.

The so-called "diode" was a specific design of a one way clutch for I believe second gear. It was only used in the 01' YM trucks and was discontinued at some point late in the YM production run. Other than that I believe that the 4R100 is a 4R100.
