If you are heavy loaded and/or heavy tow at lower speeds, lower ratio makes sense. If you do 2 lane driving and interstate driving, 3.73 is the sweet spot in my opinion. Find someone who lives near you with a 7.3 truck that has 3.73 ratio and drive it on your route a time or two, while keeping an eye on rpms at speeds you like. Then, you will know.
