Water Separator

Can anyone out there help me, My first time on a diesel I got an f350 6.4L my question to the public out there. How often do you change or rather clean out the WATER SEPARATOR LINE. Am being told that I should get a light on the dashboard. But I'm not sure if that correct. Please help I don't want the truck to lock-up on me. Any advise is welcome

Open the drain valve once a month, replace both fuel filters every 10k minimum.

To be hones I think you have to insert the key into the ignition and just put it on the "on" position but not fully turning the engine on. then get underneath it and open the drain valve until there's nothing running out of it. that's what I think one has to do.

My truck is a f350 not a f450 not quite sure if that would make a difference is it probable that one has to change the fuel filter every 10k miles.

no.no.not neccessary to turn on the key, just get under the truck, open the valve for approxx 15 to 20 seconds let fuel run into prefer clean container. let the container sit . next day you will able to see any contaminants. also i forgot to mention, after 15 to 20 seconds close the valve!

Just drain it and dispose of it following the guidelines of the EPA. Hard to determine if any water is weather related condensation or low quality fuel.

hopefully if it hasent been drained for a while, you may see a few droplets of water. but that should be the only thing you see.well lets just say thats the only thing you want to see. not trying to scare you, just saying.
