New truck that been on lot for over a year
Been thinking of getting a new truck so I have a rear seat again and found a holdover 2016 that is set up like I want but I noticed the truck was built in Aug of 2015. Would you be scared off by a truck that has sat on the lot for 19 months, that just seems like a very long time?
Their "asking" price is only $7200 of MSRP so I think they have some room to improve, especially since it's an outgoing model.

Fall last year I was offered about $9k off MSRP and it had been sitting for almost a year like the truck you are looking at - granted that was X-PLAN with rebates.
I'm with Mike, by now you should be able to get a decent deal on it. The only thing that would worry me is how many miles it may have been test driven, and all the fluids have just been sitting there stagnant along with tires, drivetrain, etc.
I'd see about getting all fresh fluids in it if you get it. Heck, you may be able to get it at or under invoice now (be sure to let them know that in five months it will have been sitting on the lot for two years).

I bought a leftover 2012 in July of 13, the 14's were arriving on the lot. I waited until I had my deal, then I showed them the Ford recommended service schedule, so they performed a complete service, changing all the fluids, lube service on their dime.
I like my truck a lot and the great deal I got.

I agree with you guys, it's been sitting on the lot too long and they aren't coming down enough on price, especially since it's an outdated design now. I really don't think it's worth the 3hr drive to go look at it.
the truck is pretty well equipped though. It even has the hard to find manual t-case(which is a must for me)
F-250 CCSB
6.2
3.73 elock
XLT value package
power sliding rear window
Snow plow prep
5th wheel prep
18" wheels
clearance lights
HD alternator
MSPR is 47,265 and according to NADA invoice is $44881.

This is what the dealer is offering off it , but I would bet there is more room to move. You have to remember for the first while the truck is on the lot FMC is carrying the cost that truck is on the lot then after a certain time period the carrying cost is switched onto the dealer.
The dealer is not going to want to carry that truck forever, the longer it sits, the further the profit on that truck erodes due to the fact that there is a ton of other trucks that are on the lot that they make a better profit on. How many people are shopping for a early 16 model?
I would think they could be hammered down more on that truck yet, You could always talk to the sales manager himself on the phone and do some haggling and go from there. If that goes well, then take it from there

I bought a leftover 2016 XLT SCLB 6.2 in September. It had been on the lot for 10 months. The battery was dead when I went to test drive it the first time. Other than that, no issues.
My out the door price ($34,500) in September was $10,925 below MSRP ($45,425). $4,500 of that was rebates, the other $6,425 was dealer discount.

I would also go to your local Ford dealer and tell him you found a truck you like but you prefer to deal with the local dealer. One he may be able to deal better. Dealers often get vehicles from each other. Then you got a rapport with the dealer for any needed service. Our local dealer went about 300 miles to get the new 2013 Explorer we wanted.

Another reason I was looking at the '16 is because I still haven't totally warmed up to the new design yet and the '11-'16 is a proven design. Plus I could transfer my wheel flares and bug shield to the '16 and save myself some money.
