Wow, currently at 16 bids and over $200? A lot more than I'd pay for that. Not really my style, but it definitely looks very solid.

Bolts better not loosen because of poor design.
Better not leak oil.

If I'm spending big bucks on a aluminum side cover, I want a nice looking finned aluminum one. Not a plain flat one with someone's logo on it.

I'll admit it, I bought it. It was me. I had more money then brains on this one, I know.
The town on the cover is Waxhaw, NC. The place where I've lived for the past 10 years. The guy that this originally came from is kinda a six cylinders legend in the area. His name comes up in conversation with every 6'er that I talk to at any car show that I stop at. Somewhat directly related to my estranged love of this engines. Before hearing about this guy and his venerable sixes, I didn't know that the V8 had any competition.
To be honest , I really just wanted to keep this piece in the area, on my truck. Getting talked about by people whom may still remember the good old days around here.
Did I pay too much, yes,.. I mean probably, who knows. It's all arbitrary.

Great story, Carloespo! As long as you are happy with the deal, then it is A-OK!

Both of these together outline why something like this is NOT for someone like me and why someone like you definitely should have bought it.

To me, it was a boring, flat, aluminum valve cover with some logo on it that meant nothing.

But to you, it had history, and the logo meant something! I'd say it was money well spent. And that's what makes things like it awesome.

I'm with 1986F150six on this. If you are ok with what you spent on it and it makes you happy that's all that matters. From the sound of it, I think it's ending up with the right person.

I don't remember his name ( was his last name something like Hawke? ) . But the guy that was machining the finned side covers out of billet aluminum. I think his were the best looking ones I've seen.

The guy in this Youtube video has one on his.

I wish they were still available. I also wish someone would cast some nice finned aluminum valve covers ( besides clifford ). I want a nice finned aluminum valve cover with no logo or logo box on it. I think CNC-Dude over on Fordsix is making some covers. But I don't really consider those finned covers. I believe his only had a few short fins on them. I want one with a bunch of full length fins that have a small taper on the end of the fins.

machining a side cover wouldn't be much of an issue as I have access to CNC mills from work. does anyone have precision prints, drawings or measurements of the covers? honestly it wouldn't take much to mill them out of 6061 AL.
