ZF 5 Short Throw Mod??

I saw a write up on midnight mods about a kit, but he did not mention where to get one. I know MidWest Trans used to do them.

I see them on ebay, but the kit there is different than in the write up, and far less detailed, so that makes me leery. Does anyone have experience with this mod? Does the ebay type mod work?

The info I have is this: Midwest Transmissions makes a kit. They sell it on ebay for, iirc, $215. You raise, with their kit, your shift tower. They supply a new shifter base with a moded pivot point.

There are a couple of vids on youtube about it.

There is also a blog or site, midnight mods, that has a detailed write up about the mod, with photos.

I hope another forum member with experience using the mod, will add a bit.

I'm pretty sure Jim doesn't make them anymore, that thread was started back in 2011. Hope it helps.

Thanks for responding. I came across them on ebay. It says, way down at the bottom, Midwest trans. What do you think? The seller is mantrans, their name on ebay. Do you think someone is picking up where Midwest left off?

Short Throw Shifter Kit for ZF Ford ZF 5 Speed Transmissions ZF S542 & ZFS-547 | eBay

Well, I checked their site, and yes, they are selling the kits, $215.

I haven't used a short throw shifter kit, so I wouldn't know quality between manufacturers. I would go by reviews if the manufacturer. on Epay. You could post in the 94.5-97 Diesel section and see if anybody has put one in their truck. Hope this helps.
