Steering parts blues....

Hey guys, I only have one more part to buy for my axle swap and it can get underway.

I am having trouble finding the steering component that goes between the two knuckles. The longest piece with a hole in it for the drag link, 52" (or so) long. It came off of a 1992 F350 (Ball joint Dana 60)

Here's a picture.

Anyone have a part number or source for a new component? I can't find it ANYWHERE

I'd get Moog only. Rockauto has them:
DS1071
DS1068
ES3009R

Or for a little more, buy this kit: "Y" Link Steering using GM 1 Ton TRE - RuffStuff Specialties
The nice thing about that is all you will ever have to replace is just the TREs ($129) and not the whole tube.

Those ruff stuff kits are sweet. I just put one of the autozone links last year. No complaints so far.

The Ford taper is different than the GM, so you would need to either ream the knuckle for under or drill out and use the inserts for either over or under.

Are you asking between over the knuckle and under the knuckle or reaming the knuckle versus inserts?

Over the knuckle is good if you do a lot of off-roading. It keeps the steering higher up and less likely to get hit.

If you're just daily driving the thing there's nothing wrong with under the knuckle.

I think the reamer is around $110. The inserts are $15. The inserts work more than fine. I have them on my truck with no issues.

Gotcha. as cool as that setup is, I think I will be going with the stock stuff for now. As soon as these parts wear out, I will do it, I just need a quick simple fix right now. With the axle swap, I need as few variables as possible.
