Pro/Cons adding Edge CTS2 programmer and deleting
I have a 2010 6.4 that constantly goes into regen every 30-40 miles. The truck has 109,000 mile so out of warranty now. I am looking at the CTS2 programmer and doing the delete as well when I have it done. looking for thought on this and Dealers to do work near Salisbury Md? Thanks

You would probably need to have the work done at an independent diesel mechanic, not a Ford dealer. As you research a tuner to support the delete, understand the requirements of that tuner for the on pipe sensors EGT and DPF Back Presure - I say that because the EGT sensors are not likely to survive the move from the old pipe to you new one.

I have a CTS2 edge tuner installed in Jan 2016, and a DPF/CAT delete pipe. No stupid regens and runs great. Have had no issues. Had it done at a local diesel performance/repair shop near me. Asked about EGR delete and said not necessary as this tuner shuts it down. My mileage increased by about 5 mpg's. No clouds of regen smoke and no stress listening for engine sound changes that indicate upcoming regens anymore. Mine is a 2008 6.4L with 85,000 miles on it. Done at 76,000 miles and happy with the results.

if its going into regen every 30 to 40 miles you are probally also getting poor MPG and most likely due to either rocker tip wear, bent push rods, fouled injectors, excessive carbon build up , rings sticking, etc....none of which will get fixed by putting a wiz bang tuner on the engine. my opinion of course.

Mine was regenning alot. Take it in and they would do a manual regen. Smoking like crazy for 45 minutes and finally cleared. Took it home and started regenning and blowing smoke within 2 days. Dash notice would show the need to clean, would show clean, and then go back to need to clean, all the while blowing smoke down the interstate for 25 miles. Ford said it was normal, or turbo bad, or some other excuse. Took it to DNR Customs here, cut out DPF and put in tuner and straight pipe. Said DPF was toast. Work done for $1600. New (remanufactured) DPF and labor would have been $2500 elsewhere. Been running great for past 15 months. I'd find a good diesel repair/performance shop and talk with them.

Thank you Blackeyed1 I have taken to dealer and said everything is fine and comuter shows all good. They told me it was normal for this these trucks to do that. BS I have been looking for someone reliable and trust worthy in my area to do work and do the DPF and EGR deletes and add tuner so i can get rid of this crap.
