My wife came home early and caught me....

I still hear about the time 20 some years ago when I heated up a couple of Model "A" carburetors in the oven in an attempt to free up the venturi. It's a running joke with the kids but I still don't think my wife has seen the humor in it. By the way, it worked and the carbs came apart easily when I was done.

Back when I was a teenager I pushed the limit with mom a little hard one day. She came home from work and opened the dishwasher to find all the tin work; oil pan, timing cover, and valve covers for a small block Mopar still in there.
She kind of blew her top. I had to make myself scarce for awhile.

LOL!! Yikes.
One of my other hobbies is old radios and audio gear. Dishwashers work excellent for cleaning up electronic gear, once things like transformers are removed. Many tales of woe on the radio forums, from "She Who Must Be Obeyed" after finding a Hallicrafters or something like that in the Kenmore. Oops!

The friend letting me use his garage, has an industrial washer for washing parts. It looks and works a lot like a dish washer. A big part of his business is rebuilding generators, alternators and starters. His customers are mainly farmers and heavy equipment operators. His washer is always on and came in real handy for cleaning up the tin parts for my engine rebuild.
As noted, I used my wife's oven recently for heat treating my manifold per the instructions for the paint. I wouldn't do that again as the fumes were really bad. Possibly my manifold was filled with oil residue from my worn out engine, and that was a contributing factor in producing all the smoke in my little adventure with my wife's oven. Fortunately I wasn't caught like our friend Pineconeford.

I built an engine in the basement of my parents house when they were on a trip. As all teenagers are prone to do dumb things we fired it up. The roar was one thing and the exhaust set off the fire alarm just as mom and dad walked in a day early. It was ok until the fire department showed up as I didn't answer the phone call from the alarm company. Folks were not happy to say the least.

I think you have us all beat.
You win!!!

Umm who hasn't heard, "Happy wife, Happy Life!
CINC House, (Commander in Chief, House) caught me putting a starter ring gear in the oven, just after finding the flywheel in the freezer. In my defense, I wrapped the greasy flywheel in her last plastic wrap, and used her last tin foil to cover the ring gear. She made me take her to dinner that night as I remember. But my truck started well after that!

And this is why I had to give the running boards a bath.
Today I started pounding out the dents in the second board and this is how much of Arizona was packed into ONE of the square channels on the bottom.
No tumbleweeds or dead bugs this time.....but it sure is a dirt trap.
Almost enough to plant a cactus in.
