Hey Guys,

I ordered a F-250 Lariat last week, Wednesday March 1st to be exact. I stopped into the dealer today and they said thet Ford accepted the order yesterday and my name and order is in there system, he thought I would be provided a VIN within the next couple days.

Typically how long does it take to get the VIN? last week when I ordered they said I would have one within a week but its been longer at this point. The day of the order they stated 6-8 weeks to see the truck, Does that seem to be the case?

 

Congrats! We ordered week of Thanksgiving. Had VIN the 2nd week of December. Original promised date was end of January. Truck was held back for issues with the cameras & got to the dealership the middle of February. Yours will probably go quicker - even when it doesn't feel like it's going very quick! David

Definitely doing that. I just ordered the weight safe hitch, so If anything this forum is costing me money haha

 

I just noticed that the dealer ordered my truck with the 3.55 Locking instead of the standard 3.31 with the locking option that I wanted... what is your opinion on this?

 

You're getting the better setup with the 3.55. Sales rep made the right decision for you

You will have more towing plus you can upgrade to bigger wheels if you want later

 

Do you think there will be a noticeable difference in gas milage?

 

Call your dealer and tell them to change your priority code from 20 to 10. 20 is a stock order and will take longer to get built. 10 is a retail sold order and will get scheduled more quickly...

Agreed on the 3.55's. Better gear and you won't notice the difference in mileage.

 

Thank you for the heads up on that! Can the dealer do that at any point? I know when I spoke to them yesterday they said it hit the ford system on Thursday but no VIN yet...

 

Yes, as long as it hasn't been picked up for scheduling in which case, it doesn't matter anyways...

They can up until a certain point of scheduling. Orders have been getting pulled and scheduled pretty quick lately so if you want to make a change, I'd get on it...

 

I heard that once a VIN is assigned no changes can be made. The order on my truck says priority 1, hopefully it's at the front of the line! lol
