Start of a turbo V10 build
#16
Yes, I have a kenne bell SC on one of my 6.8L excursions. Took me 3 yrs to get all parts and install.
3rd excursion is getting a turbo, and forged short block to hold 14 psi. It will be put up for sale once that is done in a year or two.
CG fabrication sells hot side kits for the 5.4 and 4.6 modulars and they said they would build me a hot side for my 6.8L.
All my forged parts are coming from Livernois Motersports. Looking at L&M engines for the custom cams.
Turbo will be a Borg Warner S472X-E with a T4 1.25AR turbine housing. Should have 14 psi at 2000 rpm WOT. it will vary between 0 and 14 psi during cruise operation at 2000 rpm.
Boost starts at 1700 rpm and will vary between 0 and 9 psi at that rpm.
OEM MAF is too small and a aftermarket unit is needed to flow 1400 cfm+, and a Ford 6.0L diesel intercooler will be used.
I have a 1999 E350 van at my local pick and pull. It has an aluminum lower intake on it. I will replace my plastic on with the 1999 model for strength and reliability.
This build will cost ALOT.
Over $5k for motor
Over $4K for transmission
Over $5.5k for turbo system
Desk top dyno shows 850 ft lbs at 3000 rpm
2000 rpm max torque would be over 600 ft lbs.
