HPOP advice

So many of you guys know about the fuel issue in my oil with the current motor sitting in my Bronco, how that motor averages at about 300psi on all cylinders, with several being under 300, and that I also picked up a replacement motor (initial inspection seems good but haven't gotten around to compression testing it cold on the stand yet)

The thing is, my old motor is a 1995 powestroke. The HPOP on the 95s are different than the ones on the 96+ due to the anti-drainback valve. As far as I know, the 95 HPOP can be used on a 96+, but I'm not 100% sure so clarification here would be nice! I know 96+ pumps will cause starting issues on 95s and older (I dealt with this before.)

With my old motor, I purchased a re-manufactured Cardone pump from rock auto because at that time they didn't require a core charge, so I payed 500 bucks, and I needed to replace the pump that was installed at the time due to it being the wrong year.

So currently I have a 95 pump that's in good condition with roughly 12k miles, but a 96 motor with a pump in unknown condition with 290k miles. The engine was running before the truck was wrecked, but I'm afraid the pump may be worn out due to mileage on it. Due to this, I was thinking of upgrading the 96 pump, but wanted some advice and feedback on what you guys have done.

Should I upgrade my current 96 pump to a T500 or other pump? If so, what are your opinions on the different brands? I currently have Stage 1s with stock nozzles from Jim that are going in the new motor.

If I go with a T500 or other pump, would a chip reburn be useful/needed?

If not, should/can I use the newly rebuilt pump from the 95 motor on the 96?

My budget is pretty much non existent, so I can't afford to go super all out, but I may be able to squeeze this in, or hold off a few weeks trying to get the motor in my Bronco so I can get this done. Because my motor is out now, I figured having a pump rebuilt would be the perfect and easiest time. I've read lots of positive things about having an upgraded HPOP on the trucks, but wanted to see if you guys think it's really worth it for me.

You cant interchange HPOPs due to tHe front cover design. Just get a t500 from RiffRaff for $450 and call it good. You'll be glad you did. Sorry for the short answer. Hopefully it answers all of your questions. After my experience with HPOPs and the unknown condition of them, replace it. The aftermath form one grenading is a giant PITA. Asked me how I know.

Hmm yeah I'm guessing an HPOP took out a motor or maybe is part of your oil issues now! 450 is a but of money, but I should probably go ahead and do that!
