Fuel leak

Red part under my 99 F2 7.3 L is dripping fuel Mechanic told me Ford wants $500 for this part which is crazy Suggestions on where to get it or how to fix it Thinking about just taking it out and bypass it. Tightening it losing it makes it worse

Is it leaking at the plug, or the top?

That looks like the water separater drains that I have on my diesels tractor, skidsteer, and zero turn mower.

Maybe take the valve all of the way out and see if there is a seal or o-ring that can be replaced

Not sure what your local dealer would want $500 for. But I can tell you as a Ford dealer tech, that is NOT a factory original Ford part. It looks as though someone has added an aftermarket water separator in there at some point.
