I'm so glad I gave you something to do today. Now get off your *** and go to work.

Ford Hybrids Prove Durability By Racking Up Most Taxi Miles

Oh, again, Cruze and Volt are in the same class, yet you can't get that through your thick head. MSRP of a Cruze - $22k Volt - $40k. Again, you're a moron.

19.57 MPG is closer to my 18 than your 25-30. What part of that can you not see?

Exhibit A is a forum post, which contains zero credibility.

You're still a liar.

I bought a 2015 AWD from a Ford dealer about 6 months ago with about 29K miles on it for around $20K. It has the 4 cylinder Ecoboost engine and I get around 28 all around MPG...well over 30 on the road. It is extremely good in snow and ice and have had no problems with it. The power from the turbo is amazing for a tiny 1.6 liter engine. I was not aware of any reliability problems with the Ecoboost engine when I bought it...

Turbochargers are for rich people. Expensive toys.

However i I hope the eco boost engines prove me wrong in years to come.

I'm a middle class 74 year old on social security. Rich is something I'm not nor ever been. My escape is my everyday grocery getter and certainly not a toy. I think turbochargers are the wave of the future to get the most power out of the smallest engine with the best gas mileage.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard about a turbo'd vehicle.

Which Eco-Boost, 1.6T or 2.0T?

After I recommended it, FTE member jowilker bought a used 2014 Escape w/the 2.5L non Eco-Boost 4 banger.

I leased a 2013 Escape SE 1.6T for 3 years. 2013 had a gazillion recalls, and...

So-called "new" Escape has been sold in Europe since 2008 as the 'Kuga.'

The nice thing about these new Escapes: Have a tilt and telescopic steering wheel.

Telescopic wheel not available on the older models that were based off the Mazda Tribute.

Pretty sure I specified it is a 1.6...

take it easy man. We're all friends here. You are welcome to share your opinion. Just like I am.

As mentioned in the other post: turbos are great for making power with small displacement- I get that. In honesty I am a big fan of turbos. They're like super chargers but better.

But if turbos were so great then why haven't they become mainstream yet? I suspect because there are unresolved problems. I don't know the subject well enough to get specific, but I do know they spin at over 60,000rpm, and that kind of movement is astronomical and leaves a lot of room for problems when you put it in the hands of the American public.

Im not saying turbos suck- I'm just saying there's a reason (or many reasons) they aren't mainstream.

Millions and millions of turbo's in Europe where smaller capacities are more accepted (both gas and diesel), generally tends to be the markets where large displacement is the historic norm where turbos are seen as in any way still "new".

Early failure rates largely due to oil technology catching up with the heat and pressures involved but largely that issue has been resolved for umm 20yrs or so.

Ha, I'm (OP) still here.

I'm used to seeing threads going in directions like this in the many forums I follow !

Basically, I'm still leaning towards the 2.5 in AWD in a 2011-2012. But to be fair, will at least test drive a 2011-2012 with a V-6, and will try a 2013-2014 turbo 1.6 with AWD.

Feel free to keep the input coming. Thanks.

PS - I do drive a Dodge Challenger when I'm not driving my F-150 !

Sounds like you're on the right track. The EcoBoost engines seem to be doing well, there are a few high mileage examples out there that haven't had any engine issues whatsoever. Definitely test drive a newer generation model, it's a completely different vehicle than the previous gen, and you may find it fits your needs better. Definitely would be better on gas.

We've loved our Escapes - had four of them in the family, 1 first gen, 3 second gen., all 3.0 AWD models. When it came time to replace my wife's 2012, she went with an Explorer Sport - the EcoBoost in that thing is a beast. But we're all waiting to see how the EcoBoosts do long term. I don't usually go for extended service plans, but to be honest, I did get one for the Sport.
