Independent front and rear $300

Snagged these from a guy that sold his 1954 F100. These will do nicely under my 71.

Nice score. I paid slightly more than that (a piece) for the 2003 CV front suspension and the Traction-Lok 3.27 geared '90 Thunderbird Super Coupe IRS I have.

I've had them for several years. The funny thing is, after the passage of time, I just couldn't bring myself to cut up my Ranger to install them. If my truck was just a base model/Custom, it might have been different.

The front and rear suspensions when I got them in 2012.

Steve, I know what you mean. I bought my Ranger XLT with the idea of using it to complete my basket case 71 Custom. About all it has going for it is a solid short bed and frame. The 72 XLT keeps growing on me the more I drive it. I'm thinking about putting these parts on the 71 frame until I can find a 71 donor with a good cab and front end.

In 2014, I ended up installing a disc brake front suspension from a '77 F100. I have a 9-inch drum brake rear end from an '81 Bullnose with the 'Torino' large axle bearing end flanges I plan to convert to Explorer rear discs and install it under my '69 F100.

This will mean having to change to custom 5 x 4.5" lug pattern 31-spline axles but, it'll give me power 4-wheel discs. On the front, I'll have the rotors redrilled from the 5 x 5.5" lug pattern to the 5 x 4.5" lug pattern. There are a lot more and better looking wheel choices in the 4.5" pattern than for the 5.5" lug pattern.

I eventually plan to install lowering beams and rear shackles.

You've got a sweet looking rig there, I like your idea of going to the 4.5 lug pattern. It's nice to have choices.

Thanks. My truck is a long way from being a show queen but for being a truck and nearly 50 years old, it's in very good shape --thus, why I was reluctant to cut it up for the CV/IRS swap.
