Here's something you don't see often.

Yesterday I had my left hip replaced. I asked the Dr if he could take a picture of the bone he cut out. I sent it to a buddy of mine and he said it looks like a soup bone. The part you're looking at should be smooth. Dennis

Oh wow, Dennis! I'm glad I am not eating when I saw that! Ha ha.

I hope you have a speedy recovery and that your pain subsides quickly. How long of a recovery before you are able to crawl under sinks and in crawl spaces to fix leaky pipes?

"The hip bone is connected to the"... well nothing anymore.
My mom had her hip replaced a couple of years ago. I was amazed that the surgery only took about an hour. The doctor had to find dad and I in the cafeteria because we figured it would be much longer.

Follow the doctor's orders so you heal faster and better.

Dennis... had mine done last summer... 3 weeks after surgery, they released me from therapy... do the exercises religiously... if it says 5 reps do 7, then 10... I walked laps inside the house 5 times a day. Dropped the norco after a week and tylenol from then on... 8 months out and I'm doing what ever I want... but if I do too much it tells me about it... takes all those muscles and such time to stitch back together... I'd do it again tomorrow if I needed too... gud luck bud

He said 6 weeks. No in house nurse visits or therapy. He told me just to walk. He'll make a determination on therapy after 6 weeks. My leg was busted up in a motorcycle accident in 1972. I guess I'm not your average patient because my knee only bends a little. Dennis

Ben, I meet with the surgeon in 2 weeks. He's going to show x-rays of what he did. Had trouble laying down in bed tonight, I'm in the recliner right now. Dennis

It is amazing after what they've done, that they can send you home after one day.

Hi Dennis,

saw that picture during my lunch-brake, yummie-yummie .
I hope the Doc didn't install all that material from the background of that pic into You! The x-ray would go havoc then . Wish You a fast and complete
recovery!

Had that done about 6 months ago. Piece of cake. Do the exercises and get out and walk and everthing will be fine. Doc said if it ain't sore, get off the couch. If it hurts, back off a little bit. Worst part for me was wife changing that bandage around them staples. She is the world's worst nurse.

Didn't have a good night last night. I guess I'll have to get a prescription filled. Tried to put a pillow under the leg, that started to hurt. Then the dog that sleeps between us, kicked her leg into mine. Then I tried the ice pack, but that put more pressure on the incision. To top it off I had to get up twice to pee. Ended up sleeping on the sofa. Dennis

I have had too many trips to the "Body and Fender Shop" myself-problem with the narcotic pain meds is that they tend to constipate ya. Depending on the location of the wound sometimes the pain is better... I have found that Tramadol (a synthetic morphine I think) does the job and doesn't back things up.
I hope the healing goes fast and they are right about not sitting too much

Best regards,

Doc

Thanks for posting. Heal soon. I wonder why the good doctor staged the old parts so close to those new spare parts? What replacement parts would those be?

I guess they have an assortment of parts to choose from. That way they don't have to go back to the counter and make an exchange.

I had a better night last night. Dennis
