Is A Drop-In Bed Liner A Bad Thing?

Is A Drop-In Bed Liner A Bad Thing?
I'm told that my drop-in bed liner will interfere with the installation of a retractable tonneau cover. My options seem to be to remove the drop-in liner (that's OK with me), or cut/modify the liner. I'm not so worried about cutting the liner to allow room for the canister. I am worried that, over time and rough roads, the installation screws and brackets will work their way loose as the liner moves slightly in relation to the truck's box.
So, what do you think...keep the drop-in liner? Or remove it, sell it, and go with a bed mat. ???

when using a tonneau cover the top rail covers of the bed liner are cut off so it fits under the bed rails.
i use the liner, it protects the bed surface.
the 02 has had a truxedo loproQT cover on it and a liner in the bed for 10 years with no issues.
th e14 has a liner, and i just put a cover on that too.

Thanks, Tom. I'm unable to install the tonneau myself. The guys at the shop explained that they'd have to cut the bed liner just enough accommodate the cannister (retractable cover). That seemed reasonable, at the time. However, as you say, wouldn't they also need to cut the liner at the bed rail also? In my case the liner is tucked under the factory bed rail caps. The resulting installation narrows the overall bed width at the rails by, I don't know, maybe 3/8th of in inch. By your experience, would that leave enough width for the tonneau and its rails? Or, will the liner also need to be cut at the rails. Down-side of doing so?
