Afternoon folks.

I'm still bashing my head against the wall trying to get the van running right. It runs pretty good until everything gets good and warm and then it starts misfiring on 1 & 6. I've already changed coils, fuel filter, and run it through a drive cycle without getting much more information than a misfire code. I reluctantly decided to go in and change the plugs, but it seems like I just did that not terribly long ago, but then I looked at WHEN a picture I took during the last plug change was taken. Apparently it's been 7 years since they were changed! Maybe, just maybe, I've found the root of the problem.

I'm going to be installing the driver side running board and prepping to change the plugs tomorrow. I need the engine stone cold to minimize any risk to the plug threads.

Good luck Dave. I hope those new spark plugs fix's that miss. Specially since I do know how bad a pain in the butt those are.
We went a bought Shari a new office desk. So the one here is going on "the list" whoever wants it, can have it. Just get it out of the house.
We'll leave the new stuff in the box's and put it together at the other house.

Y'all behave!

Pain in the butt is an understatement Bob. . I'm hoping that the plugs are the problem because I'm running out of ideas and really don't want to shell out more $$$ just chasing shadows. Misfires on the first cylinder on each bank just doesn't make much sense. If this doesn't cure it, I may have to invest in a scan tool that can read real time data so I can see what's going on with sensor data.

Dave have you checked with a vacuum gauge yet? Miss on the front two cylinders, almost makes me wonder if there's a maybe a worn lobe on the cam. But that vacuum gauge will tell you quite a bit. Or a compression test on all cylinders?
You may have done that already, and I missed reading that, or brain farted it out.
That engine looks nice RC!

I hadn't thought about that yet. I'm pretty sure it's not flat cam lobes as it would have had to flatten them on two separate cams. Depending on what the plugs look like when I pull them, I may go see if I can find a compression tester the will reach in there. I've got my fingers crossed that the plugs are just worn out. I really should have changed them 2 years ago.

Well, I got what I wanted to get done today. The first two coats or primer are down on the Acura, and the body work is all but done of the Honda. I should be able to lay color down on the Acura tomorrow.

I just put that 528 in the fox body and the owner wanted to put the headers in and get it running this weekend. I got the first coat of primer down on the Acura and went home for lunch. I come back and the guy is cutting my mid plate mount off the frame. I ask what the hell he's doing. He said the header hits it. I said I would just build the headers to fit the car. That mount HAS to be there. No ifs, ands or buts. It HAS TO BE THERE. I just wash my hands of it and go about my business. I keep hearing him pounding on something with a large hammer and the grinder going. Then he asks me to come take a look at it. He asks me how I would go about fixing it now that the headers fit. I look at what he was doing. HE CUT THE MID PLATE AND MOUNTS OFF, O-F-F, OFF of the engine and frame!!!!!! I said what the hell did you do that for??!! He said, "I had to, to make the header fit." NO! You dumb@$$ you don't cut the structure out of the car to make the header fit! You build the header to fit the car! Do whatever you want, I'm done! ...then I just walked away. Didn't ask me to fit the headers. didn't ask how he should go about things, just starting cutting the car apart until the header would squeeze in there. Then has the ***** to ask me how I would fix it! No words have been invented to describe the amount of rage I feel about this.

Alan - congrats on just walking away. I would have had to have someone post bail on me. Some people should not be allowed to own tools.

No problem. I think I'm one of the few people in the chapter dealing with a mod motor on a regular basis.

Alan trying to get Bullet ready for your Monster Truck smash with Earthquake. ....RC and I were thinking or hoping the front axle would be ok knowing it was missing that shaft.....then curiosity killed the wallet and I put the truck up on blocks this morning and pulled the front diff cover hoping not to find a mess of mangled metal gears.....but I didn't...looks good so far no fluid and did find some nuts....but looks pretty clean....so far... but ....bad so far was the 4x4 locking hub bolts ...about half on each side were stripped. So that was bad....brakes on front looked not great at all so off with them and might as well replace the calipers ...well one side needed replaced anyway...

Howdy all, Alan, kudos to you for not bashing his skull in. I got the bent 69 Mach One front sheet metal closer to fitting right. I also started teaching a buddy how to weld...after I fixed his welder, new liner and made a new bracket for the tension on the drive wheel. Now I'm home chilling with the dog while Patty and her aunt go to the casino.

Those bolt heads are notorious for being stripped. Just drill out the heads and replace them.
Once the heads are off and the cap is removed, you can unscrew the bolts with your fingers.

Alan or Chip I got an hvlp paint gun out of a rental and the tenant left the cup full of paint. I managed to get the paint out of the cup.
I haven't checked the gun itself yet, but if it is full of dried paint too, what is the best method to clean it out?
Will soaking it in paint thinner or acitone help clean it out? Any suggestions?
