Talking 2003 Ford F-250 Dash Swap Too 2008

So I'm starting a forum on how I'm doing my dash conversion. I would appreciate it if you guys could follow and subscribe so that I have more people to ask questions too. I currently have a 2003 Ford F-250 crew cab lariat with a v10 I've seen other forum about this however they all include 50 pages of stuff that includes other repairs. I want one forum that gives great explanation of how to do it.

Swap is relatively easy if you have the right configuration (manual HVAC, etc.). Routing all the wiring back behind the new dash is annoying and takes time but nothing crazy. Steering column needs to be modified slightly to fit, again, nothing major but worth noting. HVAC ducting is the only real 'MOD' that has to take place. I used 3" vent tubing from Home Depot on mine and it works PERFECT! I honestly think it performs better now than it did before. Had to modify the hvac box itself to accept the tubing (made an adapter plate) as well as the vents behind the dash. The cluster doesn't fit great but I am working on mating the old cluster guts to a new style cluster...who knows if that will work or not. Same goes for the headlight switch, I will be 'frankenstein-ing' an old switch into a new style housing.

I wish I took more pics but once I get going with a project I just want to get it done and don't really think to stop and take pictures...sorry.

Yes, it looks ghetto but works like a charm...even better than factory in my opinion

@smarty39 I like the duct work. How did you make the defroster vents work? Also what modification did you make to the column. I plan on using the old column but I'm gunna get a 2004-2007 f150 steering wheel and put it on since it has the same mounts. I'm currently paining my dash and I just order my door panels off of eBay.

Did the head light switch Match right up or was there repinning that needed to be done?

Thanks
Michael

Nice work OP! Looks way better...

I'm planning to do the same on my 2003 Ex. I started from bracket kit superduty excursion new style dash swap bracket kit f250 f350 f450 powerstroke | eBay. This guy also producing bumper & front end conversions kits to 2011+ F250 that I used already and works good, some modifications I had to do on front end conv kit. His YouTube channel on "HowTo" https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCGT...x6EQopt7D1_9jQ

There is also another guy in CA who is modifying speedometer clusters, need to look up again.

Just wanted to share some info with you who is planning to do conversions or swaps

Did you buy that kit yet? If not don't buy it from there. It's 50 bucks cheaper and the exact same product on "mcnastycustoms.com" hey also show a video on how to use it. Just a heads up and a way to save you 50 bucks. However, if you find that guy who's doing the cluster post it! I'm from Palm Springs but am stationed in Prescott. It's not a far drive and I could always go home to visit family.

Too late... I already purchased it though but thanks for heads up! Now looking for a dashboard with steering column.

Yep, there is a video how to on YouTube, check comments, there is a guy in comments says he does cluster for $450. I think it's kinda pricey but if there is not other options, I might go with it.

From what I google'd, they should fit w/out modification but need to double check. There are several threads on forums who has done it already.

I got my dash for 10 bucks in Phoenix. If you check out junk yard you can find it. But sometimes it's rare. Also someone has made a cluster using the old one and new one but he won't post how he did it. 450 is way to much for me.

I've seen some people who have installed with out the kit I'm tempted to try it with out it. And see how far I get. I know I'll have problems with the steering column since the bolts are different with the old one and new one. I also plan to get a 04-07 f150 steering wheel and put that on the old column that way I can still get the new look.

That is beautiful...is yours an 05? The cluster plugs appear to be the same from 2005 to at least 2010. You might be able to plug the cluster right in.

Mine is an 07. Even if the cluster plugs are the same I don't see any possibility of it plugging right in...too many variables due to a complete model change from 07-08.

That being said, anyone have instrument cluster pinouts for an 05-07 and an 08-10?

Alright sorry guys I was on spring break for the week and drove down to Mexico with some buddies. I plan on starting my dash tomorrow. @smarty39 if you could tell me how you bolted the column I would appreciate it, also how did you get the defrosters to work? I plan in recording the process and taking tons of pictures so look out for those.
