Looking for exhaust for 400ci

I am building a 400ci and im looking for mufflee sugestions. I have flowtech headers 2.5in collector. I like the sound of flowmaster super 44's but im worried about drone.

here is what ive done to my motor or will have done
750cfm quickfuel slayer carb
ported stock heads i believe 76cc
comp cam high energy 268
TMI 9.4: 1 CR pistons .030 oversize
flowtech headers
weiand aluminum intake

i believe that is it. I want something loud with a noticeable idle and one that you can hear the cam. But i dont want the drone. Im not entirely sure what drone is but i have an idea.

2.5 inch, mandrel bent tubes, and Magnaflow straight-thru mufflers. About $85 each.

.

X2 on the Magnaflows. The 33% better flow through mandrel bends is nice too. My brother took off a FM 44 because it droned badly on his '92, even with a resonator also welded in line. His Magnaflow is much more liveable at cruise rpms. Also have a chambered MF on my Tacoma, and my parents have a straight through on their '89.

Was the FM super 44 welded in? I herd they dont drone much and i herd welding it one helps reduce those chances.

Yes, it was welded in. My brothers '92 is a 5.8L Supercab F150 4x4 longbed. He built a full cat-back exhaust for it in 3 inch and had the muffler in the stock location. He used a now discontinued formed tail pipe that he thinks may have contributed to the drone. The pickup hummed at cruising speed inside the cab at a migraine inducing frequency. It will still drone a little at a certain RPM (hence why he suspects that tailpipe), but not at normal cruise speed and not nearly as bad.

Which magnaflow would you recomend? Ive read that them flowing way better than flowmaster is false. It used to be true however.

Good info on this thread.

Will be using this info to do my exhaust on my 400 in the near future.

Probably can't get away with open headers for long lol

MPE-14416... round case.

Dunno about the claims. I chose them because oval case mufflers run out of room if installed horizontally. .. I see many installed vertically and it just looks like a "work around".

Mandrel bent tubing is a must to achieve full gains.

I second the flowmaster 50s.

I put fenderwell exit headers on my 400. Stright pipe back to flowmaster 50s, and then they dump right in front of the rear tires.

No drone. Quiet at cruising rpms, but when you stomp on it you get some really nice sound out of it.
