Ignition Coil Connector wires

I had squarrels eat wires to the front 3 Ignition coil connetcors on my a
2005 ford escape XLT,my question is the new connectors have a white and
black wire and ther old ones had a red and a colored wire, but comparing
both old and new connectors I notice the new connector has the black wire
where the old connector has a red, so do I use the black wire to replace the
old Red? , it's rather confusing to me when you plug in the new connector
you can see the black wire is where the red wire was on the old one, or
does it matter which wire goes where?

The coils don't care about the color of the insulation, but I would attempt to connect the wires such that the contacts inside the connectors were connected to the same wire they connected to originally.
I believe there are two wires, one each for power and ground. The computer supplies a ground to complete the circuit, and charge up the primary coil winding. The computer removes the ground, and the primary coil magnetic field collapses(magic!), and causes an EMF to form in the secondary as the collapsing magnetism sweeps past all those windings, which produces a spark of much higher voltage but significantly less amperage.
Viola: Spark.
So, if you connect the wires the same, it should work the same. Insulation color doesn't matter.

Ignition Coil and Connector wiring

Firstly I'd like to Thank tomw, for taking the time to answer my post I really do appreciate you help.

So, I did wire them the sameway I thought and bought a CAN OBD2 Code
Reader but now I'm getting these errors

P0106- Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Range/Performance Problem

I think this is a MAP sensor not sure wher it's located.

I should point out that I did replace a MAP sensor but the one i replaced is mounted to the firewall to the left of the PCM

Next errors I received are P0354,P0355,P0356 ,Ignition Coil D,E,F Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction.

where are Ignition Coil D,E,F ? are the ones in the front that I just rewired?

I'm wondering if they are damaged and need to be replaced.

Thank to all in advance for any help or Direction!!
