Interesting slow window fix.

Possibly the wrong section for this, but it's the section I read so it's where I'm posting. If it's better suited somewhere else, feel free to move it.

Since I bought my 05, the passengers window has gone up painfully slow. I could spray the track with lube and it would work well for a day or two and then go right back to slow.

Lots and lots of reading later, I come to the conclusion that the general consensus is that the felt in the track has worn away and the glass on rubber is causing excess friction and binding/slowing the window.

Makes sense so I order a new track and installed it tonight, only to find out the problem is worse! The new track went in exactly as the old came out so I started thinking the door was bent or something. I looked at the old track and noticed a slide clip that is supposed to slide up into the upper portion of the rear side of the door. I didn't remember sliding the old one out, and sure enough didn't slide the new one in. Removed the rear track bolt, slid the track down so I could slide the clip in place, bolted it back up and it works better than new.

The interesting part is, I looked at the old track, and the clip had no rub marks on the inside, meaning it has NEVER been clipped in right. Now I have no idea if that track has ever been out before, but it sure didn't look like it to me. So basically, with this clip being OVER it's intended securement point instead of INSIDE it was making a tight point right below the window opening level at the rear of the door.

Anyways, I left the new track in, and only posted this in case it helped someone somewhere with a mystery slow window problem.

Ive also used silicone spray in the channels to remove friction and speed them up.
