I try to by from Cennex, Chevron, Shell - I don't like buying from FlyingJ or Pilot as I just don't trust that they have a clue when managing their own supply chains, too many horror stories.

Typically, a station that sells a high volume of diesel will have good fuel.

always save your fuel receipts. If you get a bad tank of fuel that causes damage, you'll be able to prove where you got it from. If the stations tanks also test bad, you won't be the one paying for repairs.

Draining your water seperator and changing your fuel filters regularly is what is really important on any diesel.

i live in Illinois and do you need to put additives in to the tank? I'm new to this diesel thing.

I agree with brandorr in looking for a place that moves a lot of diesel, worse thing for your truck is a bad fuel up of ****ty diesel that some station has had for the last year in their holding tanks...lol

Hey Brandon, I'm new to diesels and read this in your thread for diesel brands. Do diesel trucks have a water separator system on them? Never heard of this. Please let me know your thinking. Thanks, Kevin, Wilson, NC

Yes, they do have a water seperator. If I'm not mistaken, the drain valve for it is on the fuel pump module on the frame rail. A quick search here should show how to drain the water seperator on your truck. I personally drain the water seperator on my truck once monthly in the winter and every 2 months in the summer. Some aftermarket fuel filters do not seperate water, which is another reason to stick with OEM for fuel filters.

Hmmm. I watched the wrenches remove the cracked exhaust manifold yesterday and they showed me the fuel pump on the rail (it was weird seeing the cab of my truck lifted high in the air). I didn't know about any drain plug there but will ask them when I go pick up my truck this morning. Anxious to get the truck back and see how it runs with the new manifold. Thanks Brandon. Have a great day... Kevin
