1997 460 heads
hi there, i am new to the forums here. i have a 1997 f250 hd 4x4 with a 460, and i want to get more power out of it. right now i have hedman headers, dual 3" pipes and flowmaster super 10s, i made a new (intake horn thing??) out of aluminum that is straight through, and im running autolite double platinum plugs with 9 mm plug wires, accel coil and msd cap and rotor. which set of aftermaRKET HEADS WOULD GIVE ME THE MOST POWER FOR MY MONEY AND WOULD BOLT RIGHT ON WITHOUT CHANGING ANYTHING ELSE? THANKS

Some good reading here from a forum member who ports heads for a living: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...ts-are-in.html

Or find a used Vortech supercharger kit.
I assume you are no longer using the factory torpedo converter?
As stated you have the basics covered pretty well. You could net a few more ponies by bumping the base timing up a few degrees. Beyond that it's going to take some cash.

There are no aftermarket efi heads. None. Zero. Zilcho. Your only options are porting your stockers, having stockers ported, you going to carb heads and getting intake adaptors to work to try and keep the efi intake.

Going carb. is expensive too. You can't just bolt on an intake and go. The ports on the EFI heads are different.
If you have an E4OD transmission then you need to figure out how to run it. It's 100% electronic controlled.
Stroking is an option but you still have the same bottleneck exhaust port heads.

My personal plan of attack is going to be to go to carb heads, carb intake setup for injectors, and a 4bbl style throttle body in place of the carb(or 90* elbow off the intake and a stanard oem style throttle body) , then switch over to either an a9l sefi setup or go aftermarket both with a stand alone e4od computer.
But I haven't even started, mine still runs too good to want to tear into it.
