2012 F150 or 2008 F250 for towing???

Hi All

New to this site. Have a question for you...
I am looking at a work truck and have 2 options... The first is a 2008 F250 crew King Ranch gas and the other is a 2012 F150 Lariat crew gas

so the dealer tells me that the F150 is rated to tow 10,000 pounds - has the max trailer package and air bags installed. I will be using the truck to pull a 7 ton dump trailer approx. once a month over the course of the year.

Both trucks have around 210,000 km on them

Which is better???

Appreciate the input!

7 ton is 14,000 pounds.. unless my old math is broken.

that being said.. 7 ton LOADED?????? or just rated 7 ton but you will haul less.

150 = 10,000 maybe.
250 Gas = 12,500 maybe
.
.
others might offer better information.

Thanks

rated 7ton and hauling less

would be hauling firewood and the occasional skid steer

My fear with the F150 would be the suspension would not be strong enough for the weight? I am looking for a durable truck

Thanks

Go with the F250. I have never liked pulling with a F150. The 250 will have heavier suspension and better suited binders to get it whoa'd.

F250 will be a lot more stable with the load. I don't recall but I know the receiver is rated for 12.5K.

You might want to upgrade that unless you are doing a gooseneck trailer. Otherwise the Gas F250 will pull the load.

The motor will like to rev but that is fine.

If the F150 is an ecobeast, I'd recommend it over the F250. For the other 353 days of the year, the 150 is going to be more comfortable to drive. It also already has airbags to compensate for any sag that might occur when hitched up. My 2012 F250 sagged much worse under the same load than my 2006 F150 did (until I installed bags on the 250).
There are other variables that would affect my choice that aren't mentioned, like 4wd vs. 2wd for example.
But given what you've described, I wouldn't dismiss the F150 out of hand.
