AC outlet.....

AC outlet.....
Had to get a new piece of equipment today and needed to charge the power packs. I should add here I have never used an AC outlet in a vehicle before. There is a small LED light by the 12v outlet and the AC outlet. The 12V outlet was working fine. Light was solid. With the 12V disconnected the light blinks. I plugged in the battery pack charger and nothing. The light would just keep blinking. No power on the charger. We tried the outlet in the back also and same thing - no power.
Any ideas?

I did plug in another 12v power pack charger and it seemed to work fine.

85W and it has something called Intelliport. Im still leaning to the stable power source or lack thereof wigging out the charger. I don't see any indication that the charger is getting power however. No lights just the amber Ford LED blinking when it is plugged in.
OK - The AC port is working fine. Household fans and Dewalt plain 12V battery charger work fine. It does not like Smart chargers. Wiggs out with Ryobi and Makita Smart chargers. Throws it into blink mode. Unplug them light goes solid again.

Yeah, I've seen and heard of this problem many times. Our new truck will have the 400W MSW inverter under the right rear passenger seat. I may eventually look into replacing the factory unit with a pure sine wave inveter such as the Morningstar SureSine.
I see a use for one of the upfitter switches!

I think the issue would be - would the truck charge the UPS. Since the UPS has its own battery sourced power for the backup; you could run stuff without even plugging it into the truck. But I get the UPS has a monitor of the power source so I'm thinking it wouldn't work. It's starting to look like the AC outlets will not function when there is a system to monitor the power source. I don't know enough about electricity to understand what's going on but I'm sure someone on this forum will have an idea where the issue is with this.
