with edelbrock heads, flat top forged pistons and forged rods, buying a new 390 crank shaft and headers, intake and Cam I'm looking at about 4500 roughly and will be seeing 10.5 compression and 450-500 hp

I haven't been able to prove that yet but usually you can run 91 (92 or 93 depending where you are) quite well

Once you see 600 then you won't be satisfied until you make 700 then maybe 800. If we put nitrous on ours, we should see 1017 hp. or 967 hp with a 200 hp shot of nitrous.

It gets into your blood. More power,,, More power...

You could have Keith Craft Racing port your Edelbrock heads and intake to match, so when you step up in power, your heads, springs, valves, and intake are ready to make good power.
We went with a single plane Victor intake, but I am not sure that maybe a dual plane intake might make more torque and just about the same hp. Might be worth checking into before buying the intake.

software is not 100% but + - 7% ish
what else did you have in yours? I'm running a 360 thats at the machine shop now... It will have a 390 crank, bored between .30 and .40 over block decked to zero, between 9/1 and 10/1 compression, Performance cam, rpm intake, gasket matched stock heads, holly 650 and headers and no clue what mine will make hp wise.... Everyone was saying only about 300hp and no clue about torque

You´d see 300 hp in a 390 with simply the intake and carb and headers. Bumping up your compression to about 9.8:1 like a lot of flat top pistons would do and getting a decent cam and headers you honestly should see 400 if not a little over

My turn for a question, with my stock clutch needing replacing eventually anyways and the fact I´d rather not run a stock clutch on a 450+ tq and hp machine, what kind of clutch and pressure plate would you guys suggest?

I think for safeties sake and me keeping my license. Stopping at 600 would be a smart decision for me and everyone in my city. Even at 500 hp I think I´d be pretty happy and set on my truck, and the funny thing i´ve been thinking of is after all this I´d probably maintain the same or possibly even better gas mileage on my truck. 7.2 mpg just is great

Once you decide to build a stroked 10.5 to 1 compression engine you are into the 500/500 zone and you can't help yourself.

I dunno, there are lots of factors in there.
Aside from the machine shop work, I did my build. I spent a few years scrounging parts and did mine for under $10k. (and I've got one more carburetor than your build YellowTruck)

After some advice I went with a McLeod 75212 dual friction (two different materials, one plate) clutch. It did smooth out the tendency of the old NP435 to chatter.

500 plus hp is not hard to do. Our last engine before our 511ci was a 428cj that put out 530hp on the dyno. It was fairly mild. 10:1 compression, Edelbrock intake and heads, mild porting, 800cfm Holley carb. headers, flat tappet cam with .625 lift. with off the shelf parts.
You should be able to build a 390ci engine putting out 400 hp fairly easy.
It's been a lot of years since I built a mostly stock 390 engine, but the last one I built for my brothers truck made over 400 hp.

I like hearing things like that. As of now I´m ordering a edelbrock package, so heads, intake, cam & springs and lifters along with +10cc forged pistons and rods and new main and cam bearings along with the obvious intake, 750cfm edelbrock and headers. I´m hoping and should see 500 hp and torque to match

Another oblivious question to make sure I can safely run 450-500 hp and tq, can the stock T18 handle this much hp and tq? Obviously I´ll be nicer and no high rpm clutch dumps on dry pavement and wont rev it up too much
