Getting a new Clarion xv405 installed tomorrow. Was talking with the installer and the cd changer will not be working afterwords. Removing it would provide more space inside the console. Has anyone removed theirs? What is below the changer? Would it leave a hole there or is the changer resting on a base? They want to charge me 2 hours of labor to remove it.

 

I removed mine in a 97 Expedition. It is held in there with some screws and a couple of brackets. You can fish the harness back under the liner and free up some space.

 

Thanks. I told them to leave it in. I figured I can take it out or take it back later to have it removed. I just don't like having it in there taking up space not being usable.

 

When I sold it I sent the changer on down the road with the Expedition. I did the install myself.

 

I took it out today in about 10 minutes. Now I have full use of my center console. Glad I didn't pay the $95 to have them take it out.
