'48 Fuel Line to Frame mounting

Anyone care to share some pics of a safe and logical mounting of my fuel line from the flex hose off the fuel pump down and along the truck frame? BTW..string for demo purposes only..didn't want to bend line just yet before I had a plan.

Ideally I would like to run it along the top of the driver's side bottom frame flange but it appears it may interefere with my clutch pedal

That is real close to the stock routing. I worry about those bolts near where it passes thru the cutout in the crossmember, tho. Are your running board brackets bolted on? I put corrugated plastic wiring loom around my pipe there because of the edges, worried about vibration sawing a hole in them. You might want something even sturdier to shield it.

It would probably be better to wait til your cab is on to make the bend upwards to the pump, maybe you can rig something temporary if you want to run it now? (I think you'll want two bends to follow the shape of the firewall) I can measure how far forward of the crossmember mine bends, but my routing is a little different.

edit -- could you put a cushion clamp under one of the nuts there to hold the line? Or turn those bolts around so just the head is there?

I will slit a piece of 1/4" rubber hose and slip it over the tubing at chafe points. Likewise for 5/16" tubing using 5/16" hose.
I also run my Bowden wire choke cable in clear vinyl hose - it keeps the lube in and the dirt and moisture out.

All great ideas thanks..I'll do all these but as Ross suggested I'll wait to get my cab on before I begin making my bends.

Appreciate the feedback. Thank you

I replaced the special pin with a bolt, washers and nylok nut. Run the bolt head in from the frame side. This gives you a lot more room for the fuel line and the brake line.

Ross I notice you bolted your clutch pedal arm (in red) to the top of your frame.
I mounted mine under the flange and maybe the reason why I can't get a good adjustment so that the rubber clutch pedal and rubber brake pedal won't line up??

Sorry..I thought that previous reply to my fuel line issue was from Ross. In fact it was from Pete so I guess my question about the mounting of the clutch pedal assembly is for Pete.
Thanks

I hadn't noticed that in your picture but yes, putting it on top of the flange would help you. I'm pretty sure that is the way it was when I took it apart.
