Maybe it's the new replacement for Leopard skin...

All the manufacturers use a paint scheme like that while testing new models.......it distracts your eye so you really can't tell what they look like.......I assume they do this in case they make any pre-production changes, or just to keep us in suspense until the official unveiling.....

I think he was joking, I certainly was.

If this were anything more than a powertrain mule, it would have about 30 pounds of masking material concealing the body lines.

They did the same thing for the Expedition; slapped the rear end of a current-generation Expedition onto the cab of an F150, and covered it with the same concealer skin without hiding body lines. Why they didn't just plop the Expedition engine in an F150 for testing, I have no idea.

These "spy shots" also help to build desire and anticipation for the upcoming model, so they don't want to hide too much detail.

I could've swore I saw the exact truck today near Ann Arbor, Michigan. I was going in the opposite direction so I was only able to catch a glimpse.

If that's so, then they haven't gotten very far with a road-ready US-spec prototype yet. This is the first real vehicle that I am following from announcement to release, so I don't have a general idea of how long it would take for each of these steps to take place.

I just noticed that with the new Ranger update overseas, everything except for the front clip is at least remotely similar in styling to the F150 and Super Duty here (Door line along bottom of rear window curves upward at the back like the new cab, tail lights look similar to the Super Duty). It definitely seems like the only major sheetmetal change will be the swapping-in of a new F-Series styled front clip for us, leaving the more car-like front end for Europe.

The tailgate also has "Ranger" stamped into the back, just like the F150 and Super Duty have their respective names there for 2018.

That orange guy look nice , but I am wondering they will come out with a long bed. If so, how it will turn out looking with the rest of the truck.

The orange one would look cool if they ever came out with a new Baywatch show.

Looking forward, it seems to me that this will be the perfect truck for me. It will pull a 5x8 open trailer just fine with the base V-6 engine.

Here's what the 'work truck' looks like, with a standard cab and long bed.

That looks like a nice truck.

Those headlights look really familiar to me..............
