2011 F250 XL 6.2
As soon as I get word back from the bank; within the hour I'm guessing, I'm headed to look at a 2011 F250 XL Quad cab, long bed, 4x4 work truck. 94,000 on the odo. Guy is asking 18,950. Looks super clean and he said the shop just put in a new radiator and heater core. Says it's running like a top. From what I can tell it looks like a good deal but I would like to hear what yall think. I can't post pics of it but it's oxford white, real clean with a few little scratches here and there that are very small. Has a few bells and whistles, bedliner, tow package etc, etc. Interior is basically spotless. Carfax checked out, but I know that could be iffy in some cases. Again; it looks great, very clean.
You guys think this is an ok deal? I usually buy my work trucks at or slightly below 100k and have been pretty lucky so far. What I've read about this model and engine made me pretty excited. Besides my old 2000 F150 XL with 4.6 V8 is getting long in the tooth after being my landscape/construction make ready truck for 15 great years. I just bought a new 6x12 galvaneal steel trailer with tandems in white so I think this will yank that trailer to hell and back with no problem and haul loads in the bed all the while looking great.
Appreciate any feedback you guys have. I have been looking over in great detail for what to look for when I get there btw.
John.

What concerns me about your post is they had to replace the radiator and heater core this soon. Obviously someone didn't do any maintence on their cooling system, wonder what else they didn't do. If you can't get them to come down a couple grand, make them preform the 100k service, which will include 16 spark plugs and a tranny service, along with a few other things.

I was concerned about that myself Ron. Salesman/ owner stated he came out the other day and saw the floor board was wet. The radiator had a very small leak he said and when investigated he said the heater core needed to be replaced along with the radiator because of the "small leak". My f150 had that issue at around 135,000 so.... I don't think he will budge on the price since he had to do the repair at around 1300.00 he said. I'll ask but who knows.
The bank took all day to get the numbers right and just called me before they closed. I got my approval but I never got to go look at it today. I will be headed that way tomorrow to look with a vehicle purchase draft in hand and I will try to use that as some leverage but I'm guessing they won't budge. Called my mechanic and he quoted me 300.00 for that service. Seems ok considering.

Well I brought the truck home yesterday afternoon. The guy was super nice and did accommodate my request somewhat. He came down 1,000 after I noticed the front grill had a slight crack in it and the passenger door had a slight "jiggle noise" when driving over very rough washboard, potted gravel road. Didn't notice it all all on the street. We guessed someone might have locked the keys in the car and then possibly used an airbag to open the top of the door to gain access thereby putting the door out of true just a bit. It was just a bit less flush near the top compared to the rest of the doors. Not a deal breaker for me obviously.
Overall I'm very happy to be out of the old 2000 f150 and in this one. Can't even tell my 6x12 steel enclosed trailer loaded with equipment is back there. Spent the evening detailing the inside and looking over the little things. Looks purty good I think. Between the new truck and trailer in oxford white I'm one of the best looking landscape/ construction rigs in the area. Looking forward to making some money with this and learning more about the F250 4x4 gassers in general.
My first project is going to be figuring out how to get the instrument cluster window out because there is dust on the back of the window and it just doesn't look that good when the rest of the truck is so clean.
Oh yeah.... I gave the 2000 F150 to mom. So it's still in the family. She's going to make it a little camping rig and goodwill junker. She deserves it I think. Something she has always wanted to do and maybe now she can.

Congrats, and may the truck treat you well.. mine has.
the "XL" my wife hates.. is "WHITE".. and the thousands of other white trucks... just like it.. being a female, she can NOT see the difference between Ford, Chevy, Dodge.. till she can read the emblem.
I point out the square wheel wells on Chevys.. she still does not get it.
I need to work on that this spring. decals/paint/something.

Thanks. I'll take some pics tomorrow and upload if I can. Do I have to have a certain membership level to post pics?
Did my first days work in her today. It felt darn good let me tell ya. I haven't had this nice of a truck in a long time. Everything I picked up felt lighter, my step was quicker and all my customers were like.... wow!!! nice truck. I'm lovin it!
