88 7.3 idi knocking while rpms low

Hi my names chandler. I. Bought a 88 f250 with a 7.3 idi over a year ago. Not sure how many miles are on it due to the odometer resetting every 100000 miles. Its at 60000 now so id guess 260000. But anyways when i start the truck it will idle fine for a minute or two then it will start knocking. Sounds like its running out of oil. But when i give it a little gas it goes away. Which makes me think its the oil pump. It runs like new when im driving but as soon as i stop at a stop light if im not keeping the rpms up it starts its shinnanigans. If anyone has any advice on how to fix thos it would be much appreciated because im trying to restore the truck and keep her running forever. And its a 5 speed. The clutch is also really hard to push im used to it now but my wife cant drive it because of thay thanks

Give us a video.

I'm thinking clutch here. A failing dual mass flywheel can make a lot of noise(the springs that hold the two pieces together and 'cushion' the diesel pulses can fail).
If it's an upgraded single mass flywheel, check that the shift fork isn't rattling around.

Most people upload to Youtube and then copy the URL and paste it into your message text window OR click the 'INSERT LINK' button above the text window in your post, a small pop-up window comes up and paste the url into that.

Either way I think this will result in the Youtube video being playable right here in your post, rather than following a pasted url to the youtube site.

I think I just pasted the url right into the message and the video was playable right from here and could be enlarged to full screen, which means that a Youtube url is automatically "embedded"

If that is how it works that's a nice feature of the forum software.

I was just noticing what a HUGE and sophisticated site this is! It's very Impressive!! One of these days when I get some money (Which I WILL!) I'll become a supporting member.

before attempting to adjust the clutch peddle one must under stand how it all relates, if not properly adjusted it can be more difficult to press (release) the peddle, most have a spring under the dash the helps one to press the peddle, if this is broken peddle effort may be increased, carfuly inspect all components, before spending money good luck.
