05 NAVIGATOR SPARK PLUGS

Guys gonna charge me $150.00 to change my spark plugs. He has the SPARK PLUG TOOL to keep from breaking them. Is this a fair price ( plugs not included, I have those )?

if you think the guy has the skill/experience to do it that's a very fair price. Imagine doing it yourself and you break any one of the plugs....

You should do the coils while you are at it, he is going to be there taking them off to do the plugs anyway. Very good price.

I have a 2004 with the single piece plugs. I changed the plugs and coils without any real issues, just some grunt work and the requirement of numerous robble sockets, extensions, etc. You also need to remove a lot of incidentals to provide good/easy access especially back at the firewall.
Well worth the effort when you consider the savings with having a dealer do the work.

Good luck.

Most any place would charge you $400-$600 to change them, more for any that break. I suggest you spend the money and get the OEM plugs (Motorcraft SP493, SP-493, AGSF32PM). They're good for 100K miles so it's not worth using cheaper ones that might fail or not last as long.

If it's a '05 Navigator, it has the same 3V 5.4 as the Expy, which means he needs the long SP-515 plugs. And be sure to put some anti-seize on the long neck, and a dab on the threads to avoid future issues with breakage. Just don't get any anti-seize on the ground strap or electrode.

I wouldn't touch a Motocraft sparkplug again if you paid me. Go with a Champion 1 piece plug.

The replacement MotorCraft ones are now 1-piece.
