I forgot to add, I bought that 72 in Oct 81 brand new from the dealer in Santa Cruz, Ca. Al Cheney Ford.
Paid $4600 cash for her. Of course it went up a bit from there adding the bed, headers etc....

Never owned a 4X4, but a friend has a 89 7.3 4X4 5-spd manual with 160ishK he wants me to buy for $3500.

I had a cracked TTB bracket on my '86 many years ago, but I caught it before it totally broke. I ended up putting a D60 under it, wasn't worth screwing with the TTB for me.

That's what I wanna do! Unfortunately, I don't have a D60 laying in my shop (yet). So, I replaced the bushing and bracket. Sorry! I was gonna post pics but I got so involved in the work that I forgot....the bushing removal/installation tool I made worked great! But now My alignment is goofed up again to the point that the front tires are trying to peal themselves off the rims! I gotta fix the toe out/in as close as I can just to get her down the road to an alignment shop. Any thoughts?? Never done it. Just need it a little closer to normal for the trip to the shop. Thanks guys!

Soak everything in a good penetrating oil before starting. If it were me I would find a tread block to measure off on each tire and adjust until they are the same width apart front and rear. I hope I worded it understandably!

You did, thanks. That's basically what I was planning to do. Like I said...just gotta get down the road a few miles. I had it aligned a couple months ago so I don't think things will be seized up already

Gonna do my alignment today. Here you can see what's going on....I have my steering wheel straight and the truck sitting at the right height.
Driver side a little toe out.
Passenger side massively toed out. Ive got some cranking to do.

Got the wheels straight today! And replaced the transfer case as well. Surprisingly, it all went really well. My 4x4 lights are doing some goofy things, but my Speedo works and my 4x4 works again. I did notice that the trans shifts down a gear and back up kind of randomly when I'm driving at low speeds. May be in related but just started doing it after the T case swap.
Tail shaft adapter after removal.
Out with the old and in with the used.
